The Silver Squad
Everyone has a story to tell, which is why Diversionary welcomes LGBTQ+Allied older adults and seniors ages 55+ for free drop-in acting classes to explore their creativity and connect with others. The Silver Squad requires no ongoing commitment. These workshops are a great way to get a sample of what it’s like to come study with us before committing to a longer class, such as The Stonewall Salon. We focus on two performance skills each session, including acting, improv, movement, writing, storytelling, music, voice and speech, circus, and much more. No prior experience is necessary, and it’s even more fun if you bring a friend. Choose from the programming below to register for a class. We look forward to helping you unleash your creativity!

About Our Education and Community Engagement Programs
Arts Education is thriving at Diversionary Theatre, and our programs spread the seeds of understanding and tolerance around our unique mission as the third oldest LGBTQIA+ theater in the country. Watch this video to learn more about each of our education programs.
By sharing LGBTQIA+ stories with our community we bring stories that need to be told, directly into people’s lives. We provide a safe place for all students, and we are excited to extend a lifeline to our LGBTQIA+ youth who may not have the support at home or at their school. We are giving people permission to be who they are, and for many this might be a life saving experience.
